Our Advertising Ethics Policy
Your Diet Sucks is supported by a mix of advertising and listener subscriptions through Patreon. Right now, ads make up the majority of that support — though our long-term goal is to rely more on our listeners and community.
That said, we currently depend on ads to keep the show running.
In podcasting, most sponsors expect something called a “host-read ad.” That means brands ask us to try their product and talk about it in our own voices. While we love supporting companies that align with our values, we’re not a review show — and we’re not here to tell you which supplement, hydration mix, or snack bar is “the best.”
Here’s our policy, plain and simple:
If a company advertises on Your Diet Sucks, they get to approve the content of their ad — but they do not influence our editorial coverage or opinions outside of that ad space. If a company that sponsors the show becomes relevant to a story, we’ll cover it the same way we cover everything else: honestly, critically, and with evidence.
We believe transparency builds trust. We’ll always be upfront about our relationships with sponsors, and we’ll continue choosing partnerships that reflect our values of science, integrity, and inclusivity in sport and nutrition.
